This was my first Tribute show I created and still one of my best I think. I was the first one in second life to do this full show of the Rat Pack, as far as I know. We performed this show for the republican party in SL as well as many other important groups. Later on after dropping Lightning for their shady business practises I recast the show with new players and performed at Bogarts on my rezday. I felt that I could never top that event and it remains as probably the highlight of my tribute show career. Since then I'm sure many have tried to copy the show but I have the satisfaction of being the first to do it :)

THE RAT PACK - SHWINGIN AIN'T EASY!
Unfortunately my partners thought it be a great idea to hit up Frank's place to do the show for cash. "Not my idea."Not MY plan!
Communication is probably the most difficult thing in SL. Misunderstandings and emotions can run high. If your part of a group, you are at the mercy of the owner who can eject you for any reason. I've never liked groups or tags since. I prefer to have a good friends list.
Owner of Frank's Place was Gymmy Sinatra. He was a big Sinatra fan. I happened to like Dean Martin better hehe. This inspired me to build the show. I thought it be a great surprise for Gym and that he'd love it and we could perform the show together with him as Frank me as Deano. Great idea that was lol. I invited him to see the show at another venue so he could see how good it was. My reward was getting booted from Franks and accused of copying him. Copying in SL is like sleeping with someone else's wife, maybe worse! Right Gym? LOL.
The group I found to help me were even worse. Talented and very good performers but I didn't like how they did business. They claimed my show was theirs. I created it, cast it, produced and directed it but they took all the money. Lightning Productions, like most if not all the big tribute groups out there only had dollar signs in there eyes. Recently they put up MY VIDEO of the RAT PACK show on YOU TUBE. I paid to have this video done and now they're using it to promote their show. It was recorded at my club, Dean's Vegas with me as Deano. Have a look before I have it taken off lol.
I had other friends to help me so I dropped Lightning and did it at Bogarts the first time with new players. Unfortunately these people were even worse. They scammed me with Alts, loading up my show with people I did not need or want. I was expected to pay them all, not realizing the 12 are really only 2 or 3 people. L5000 per show divided by 12. I got one share and my 2 partners got the rest because they used alts. They had bad ideas like using violins in a jazz band? Am I wrong or does that sound right to you? I dumped them when I tried to cut expenses (because they were robbing me) I wanted smaller land, a place just big enough for a stage to work on the shows. My group ran to the L.A. Yacht club. Bigger room. I could see my band was about to pull the same scam again and warned the owner. I got banned. Figures. They now call themselves "Stage One Productions".
Today I'm doing burlesque shows for The Moulin Rouge. One act shows mostly with more trustworthy people by far. I've been with them a long time, so long I forget lol. Maybe 3 years at least.
Find REAL friends in SL, it makes all the difference in the world.
I'm looking forward to future projects probably live singing next.

GRIEFERS ARE DRAMA QUEENS
What is a GRIEFER?
A griefer is an individual who is playing an online game for the sole purpose of decreasing their victim's quality of life.On a normal bell curve of intelligence in online gaming, griefers tend to lean towards the exceptional side of the curve. I make this claim due to the fact that the very nature of griefers tends to imply that they're capable of getting under people's skin either by verbal or tactical means. This, however, does not mean that they will do any of the following:
1. Act their age
2. Use proper punctuation/grammar
3. Respond to logic or reason
It is absolutely a waste of time to bother reasoning with a griefer because he is completely content with ignoring you completely. If you insult him, or react in any way other than ignoring him completely, he has defeated you in a game as well as real life. It really doesn't matter if you kill the griefer because in wasting your actual time, you are actually providing him with positive reinforcement.
The common misconception is that the goal of a griefer is to be better at a game than the grief'd. This is completely false. A griefer is a time-vampire, sucking away your life essence and bringing you closer to death.
How to Identify a Griefer
Griefers come in many shapes and colors, but the first warning signs come from the most obvious calling card, the name. Common griefer names include a series of racist/sexist puns or ironic references to nerd culture. A few examples would be:1. Shitwhore
2. SexyBatman
3. XXSSJGokuVegetaXX
Not everyone with names like these are griefers. Some of them are actual children, but you should most probably treat them the same way. Once a person makes it through the first filter, you have to look at their actions. This process requires actual brain-power to accomplish, but if you follow a few simple rules you can identify them.
1. Rogues are high-frequency griefers. The nature of the class is to mislead...
2. All naked players are either spammers or griefers.
3. Everyone has the potential to grief on any given day.
It probably seems like this system or rules could stifle your sociability, and promote general reclusive behavior. Remember, people who have to socialize in online games are exactly the type of pussies that griefers love!
CALL THE COPS!
The BEST way to deal with them is to RECORD THE NAMES and report them! I will let Linden Labs deal with them. In any future disruptions of your events in Second Life there is a group you can call to help out free of charge.
If you have trouble with griefers during your events, join the group "Police Department 911". This is a free service you can call when having difficulties with events or anywhere you run into bad people. Ask them to record the names, I'm sure they'll be happy to assist :)

On a serious note
Many people in second life are spending their lives in hospital beds or stuck at home for health reasons.
They cannot live their lives normally like you and me. They cannot go to the store, go to a club or movie or mall. They live their lives in second life as a second chance at LIFE. Its an opportunity to live
the life they can never have for real. When you grief someone, be aware that your hurting these people, possibly contributing to their suffering. You will have to answer to God someday.

SL TRIBUTE SHOWS -THE END IS NEAR!
Change is commonplace and if you can't "change with the times" or go with the flow", your experience will be rough. Tribute shows in second life have had a very shady reputation at best. The competition and rivalries make the "HatFields and Mcoys" look like a tea party! Club owners copying everyone else's events, sending griefers to ruin other groups events, its all nuts. It's no wonder why the major clubs have nothing to do with them.
The "Tribute shows" days are numbered. It can't come too soon for me. Much like the big casinos and porn clubs everywhere plaguing the landscape, the tribute show has become pointless except for a laugh. How many times can you go see another group doing Pink Floyd? Or Prince? or any of the other bands that seem to be done to death? Most of the time it's done very badly lol.
Many of the live entertainers and fans have looked down on tribute shows as no talent wannabes, and they could be right. Why bother doing a tribute show when you can stream a full concert of the real band from You Tube into second life? Less lag lol.
The hot ticket now is burlesque shows. Strip clubs are mostly out of fashion so burlesque is the next step up. Much more skill and imagination needed for these types of shows for sure and much more fun!
Unfortunately like the glut of tribute bands, too many are turning to burlesque. Done well its great fun, done badly its much like a school play...lol. This new fad will die out to as the live professional singers will eventually win out.
What's next? I have a good idea but won't divulge that info yet as a few are probably already planning it!..LOL. I want to be one of the first and I'm one of the few that can pull it off. I hope :)
So all you tribute artists and copy cats out there, have fun while you can till the increasingly sophisticated SL audience turns to the newest fad of entertainment. And to the griefers , may you rot in hell...lol GOOD LUCK!

I have been performing tribute shows for a few years now and have had interesting experiences. Like any job, you learn by doing and you have days when things don't work as you expect. I was puzzled for along time as to why I would experience lag problems seconds before a show. Yes sometimes I was lucky enough to have a big audience, thank you! Many avatars can cause lag. This was different. Some clubs didn't have the big crowds but I was frozen when I started my show. I now think I know why. Griefers would show up to deliberately lag the sim with many script objects. This is one reason why I don't do as many shows as I used to. Competition like this gives the business a bad name. Thankfully new tools are out that can stop this. I encourage club owners to invest in these script detectors. They may not solve all your lag troubles but certainly can help fight the grievers and saboteurs and educate those including myself to cut down script usage as much as possible making everyones second life better!

Most popular of the activities in Second Life are the dance clubs by far!
Second Life's newest is Wet Willies. The Aussies ALWAYS have the most fun clubs..lol
I go to clubs to dance, listen to tunes and relax, have some fun within reason. Some clubs I walk into, I'm harassed at the door if I'm wearing a different club tag. Totally unintentional most times. I hate wearing the things lol. I never rush out and join a group because of the cool tag..Gimme a break!
Then I'm harassed over the clothes I wear. I get harassed if my pants are a little low. I didn't come to the club expecting a church service! I try to dress properly for the event. I'd understand if I was truly going too far. I can't go to many clubs dressed as GAGA. They're loss lol. Relax Club owners! We're here for fun!
People want to be real in second life which I think is funny because everyone does not look like a super model in real Life..and in real life you never wear a tag over your head. I prefer getting attention in other ways....LOL.
I'm a little shy, not great at small talk so I use gestures. Sometimes I hit the wrong one, might have a bad word in it. Most gestures I find have profanity, sad but true. I get harassed for that like I'm some noob or something. Its better to ignore the mistakes and have fun than put people down. unless the person is doing deliberately to be a jerk. Thats when you boot em!..lol.
I've left a club and still had hosts or managers digging at me. I'm outta your hair, don't continue to beat me over the head for small indiscretions!
I try to make jokes or start a conversation... I mention a project I'm working on or maybe I talk about my Facebook games and I get harassed over that! If I was deliberately spamming the crowd I'd use a mailer..and an alt avie lol. I never try to recruit group members. You either like what I do or not, your choice!
One burlesque club I attend-another aussie club...they encourage you to talk about your business! They're not afraid of losing the audience at all. In fact I think it brings more people to the club! They are always jammed packed on a friday midnite. You want to know the club? ASK ME! LOL. Most every business person loves to talk about their projects. Best way to find skilled help. And yes, everyone does it despite the rules! If your club is fun, people will come. Have fun, be free and don't sweat the small stuff!
